Please, urge your members to support by collecting canned food, wardrobe, food for babies, toys, whatever you can collect. The best way is to call Serbian, Bosnian or Croatian embassies in your countries and ask if the gathered can be delivered through them. If not, you can contact Red Cross. If you decide to react, this is what is urgently needed: - mattresses - Linen - Bunk beds - Diapers for children and adults - socks - underwear - Children's Clothing - Torches - Batteries for flashlights - Hygiene products (soap, toilet paper, paper towels, sanitary napkins, toothbrushes, toothpaste ...) - Aseptol tags 5P - Rubber boots If you want to send money If you want to make donations to the Red Cross, you can contact the Red Cross of your country to see if there is a special bank account set up for that purpose. If you want your country to react! Our colleagues from FYEG have made a press release and draft letter, and due to urgency of situation we are suggesting to use it: You just need to translate it and then send it to the Minister concerned with Humanitarian Assistance. DRAFT LETTER Honourable (name of minister) Support the Victims of the Floods in Serbia, Croatia and Bosnia-Herzegovina.Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia go through the worst floods ever recorded in history. There are already 30 confirmed dead, and many more will only be found, when the water has subsided. Newspapers report that almost half of Bosnia is under water. Many thousands are already evacuated and weather forecasts say that the worst period of the flooding is not yet over. In this time of tragedy, it is up to us to prove, that solidarity is not only an empty word in Europe. The people in Serbia and Bosnia-Herzegovina need our solidarity. The Governments in Europe have the responsibility to act. Ms/r (name of minister) please do not wait any longer to show solidarity with the people in Bosnia-Herzegovina and Serbia. Now it is necessary to provide help in a timely manner and without a bureaucratic delay: The people in Serbia and Bosnia-Herzegovina need boats and aircrafts to rescue people, rescue teams and evacuation equipment. Your government can and should contribute with such support. However, rebuilding the villages, cities and the lives of those hardly hit by the flood, will take a lot of effort. Once the water has subsided, people will have to face the tragic consequences of this natural disaster. Thousands will lose their homes, and will not have the means to survive Europe needs to support the people in Serbian and Bosnian-Herzegovinian people when they rebuild their lives. We urge your government to provide funds and capacity to support a fast recovery of the Serbian and Bosnian and Herzegovinian people.
